Former Savage Garden front man Darren Hayes is back in the spotlight, and this weekend has released in Australia his third solo album, This Delicate Thing We've Made.
As the lead singer of Savage Garden, he formed a formidable duo with guitarist Daniel Jones only INXS and Kylie Minogue have surpassed them as most popular Australian musical exports of all time.
But it's been almost seven years now since Savage Garden came to an abrupt end, and Darren has been reinventing himself, musically, and also personally.
Last year he got married for the second time, but this time to a man, not a woman. These days he's based in the UK, and says he's never been happier, after a lifetime of self-doubt and inner struggling.
Sunday caught up with him during his recent publicity trip in Australia, for a candid discussion on his life, his loves and his new music.
Darren Hayes will back in Australia again to tour nationally in October this year.
