I'm 21 and have suffered from a lumpy rash on my bikini line since I was 16 — whether I use razors, wax or hair-removal creams. Not only is the rash itchy, it's very unattractive. I've tried leaving my bikini line natural, but the rash still remains. How can I get a hairless look without the lumps and bumps?

All hair-removal products dissolve, tear out or cut off the hairs close to or just below the skin surface. As hairs grow back, they can sometimes curl around and cause irritation in the hair follicle. You could try a solution called InGrow (around $24.95), which clears up the bumps and helps hairs to come through to the surface. But if the rash doesn't go away, you may have a skin condition such as psoriasis or tinea and will need to see your GP. If the rash is due purely to hair-removal, you could try using hydrocortisone one percent cream (available by prescription only) immediately afterwards to see if it prevents your rash flaring up.
