Name: Nedahl Stelio, Editor.
Time at CLEO...
Four months.
Your typical day starts with...
A coffee and a quick read of today's papers so I can catch up with what's going on around the world and in Australia and if we should be chasing any good stories that might come out of them. Then it's onto tackling emails that have come in overnight.
And finishes with...
Me skipping out the door! No, whatever the day brings really.
What happens in between...
It can be anything from reading copy to signing off layouts to choosing pictures for the mag to doing the cover to interviews for radio or tv to approving the clothes for fashion shoots to having a headlines meeting to meeting with our marketing or advertising depts ... pretty varied really!
Best thing about your job...
The variety. It's never the same and it keeps me interested.
Worst thing about your job...
Is there a bad thing? Maybe when we have to cut stories from the mag because they don't fit. It's quite heartbreaking because I get very attached to each story.
Life-long ambition...
To be an Editor of a fab mag like Cleo. Tick!
Greatest learning whilst at CLEO...
I learn new things every day - about people because the staff are fabulous, about writing, about design, about photos, about anything we do a story on because you have to research things so thoroughly.
Life before CLEO...
I've been in women's magazines for eight years, starting out as a beauty editor, then features editor, then deputy editor before becoming editor.
Advice for others...
This job is seriously for people who love magazines. Don't even go there if you're not a magaholic. And if you are, be persistent and be annoying - work for free for a while and you'll be able to get in.
