 | How can I make my lipstick more long-lasting? It's always off by my first morning cup of coffee. |
 | Long-lasting lipsticks are getting better (and more comfy to boot), but the fact is that lippie will rarely last until your mid-afternoon Tim Tam break. But with the right prepping and priming in the morning, it is possible to build a lip-look that will be still be there with you by your lunch-time sambo. Firstly, always make sure your lips are in tip-top condition. I coat mine in a treatment before bed every night (I love Laura Mercier Lip Silk.), and just before making them up in the morning, I apply a balm (usually Chapstick), which creates a good, flat first-coat base. (If you get flaky during the week, you can exfoliate away dead skin by smearing on Vaseline and lightly rubbing with a baby toothbrush). Next, line and "colour in" lips with a neutral pencil (like The Body Shop's best-selling Beech shade). And then, with a lip brush, paint on your first layer of lippie. Tissue-blot and repeat. You can finish by either glossing up with a clear lacquer or re-blotting for a more stained effect. Now, go get that coffee and get to work!
