 | I have very fair skin ( think Winona Ryder & Liv Tyler) and I can’t find a foundation that matches. I have tried all the usual brands - both cheap and expensive - but they're always too dark. Can you recommend one? Or have you heard what type Winona wears? |
 | I have actually read that both Winona and Liv often use Laura Mercier foundations - and our Art Director, who is similarly Snow-White-pale, has also found her perfect foundation match with Laura Mercier. You can find this brand at most major Myer and Grace Bros stores around Australia - or for information, call the head office on 03 9645 6800. Be prepared, it's a premium-priced range - but I do believe it's worth the splurge.
For those times when you need to scrimp, there are some options for you among the mass and masstige brands (this means the Maybelline/CoverGirl to L'Oreal/Revlon price range). Admittedly, the lower-priced ranges are somewhat limited in colour-spectrum in comparison to their more premium cousins (part of the value of the pricier picks is that you're paying for more colour options, thus a better shade match). But if you're only shopping in the mass end of the market, I'd say you're most likely to find your best foundation match with some of the Maybelline bases (our On-Line Editor is English-Rose-skinned and happily wears the EverFresh foundation).
Or else consider skipping base altogether and just smoothing on a pale, subtly-shimmered complexion enhancer, like the heaven Revlon Skinlights Lotion in Natural Light. |
