Beauty Q & Acosmetics
I just bought my first concealer stick (Maybelline) for my under-eye dark circle, it corrects the shadow but brings out my fine lines! Is there a proper way to apply it? Or what is a good shadow camouflage within the same price?

The best under-eye anti-shadow concealers come - like the Maybelline one you're talking about - in quite a hardened form (like a stick or palette) and in a yellow 'corrector' shade. They're yellowish because they're designed to negate the dark circles. Remember the colour wheel theory from school art classes? Yellow is the opposite of blue. These corrector concealers are very effective for under the eyes - but only when used properly. My guess is that 1) you're perhaps not 'warming' the concealer enough before you apply it (thus it's still a bit cakey and so is creasing into your lines) and 2) you're applying too much of it.

Here's how you should do it. Dip your pinkie in the corrector and rub that finger tip and your thumb together to soften the mixture - this will help it seep into the skin.

Next, you need only apply it where needed - usually the arch around the inner corners. Dab your fingertip lightly on these dark patches and pat in until the concealer seems to disappear. Go lightly - you do not want to end up with a jaundiced look!

If you don't have darkness at the outer corners - where fine lines gather - you don't need to apply any corrector here. In fact, you can skip any kind of concealer here altogether - heavy concealer tends to pool in lines, making them more obvious. If you're fixed on using concealer, go for a whisper-light light-reflecting formulation, which will help 'blur' the look of both lines and circles. My favourite for this is the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat - it's a little pricey, but so effective it's worth it.
